SEABREEZE GOLF LEAGUE RULES
1. KEEP THESE RULES IN YOUR GOLF BAG SO YOU CAN ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTIONS!
2. TEE TIMES: SEABREEZE GOLF LEAGUE HAS BETWEEN 4:00PM AND 6:00PM ON MONDAY NIGHTS. PLAYERS WHO ARE GOING TO BE LATE OR ABSENT SHOULD CALL THE PRO SHOP (508-679-9577), AND LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR THEIR OPPONENT. AT 6:00PM A PLAYER CAN DECLARE A FORFEIT AND MUST SUBMIT A SCORECARD WITH BOTH PLAYERS NAMES. TEAM #’S AND POINTS (12 POINTS FOR WINNER, 0 POINTS FOR PLAYER FORFEITING). FORFEITING TEAM WILL RECEIVE 6 POINTS. (SEE RULE #18)
3. SCORING: EACH MATCH WILL CONSIST OF 18 POINTS. TWO POINTS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE WINNER OF EACH HOLE. IF THE HOLE IS TIES, EACH PLAYER WILL RECEIVE ONE POINT.
4. FORFEITS: ALL MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED ON OR BEFORE SCHEDULED DATE. NO CARD WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DAY. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE A SCHEDULED MATCH, YOU MUST PLAY IT BEFORE DATE SCHEDULED.
SCORING A FORFEIT: IF YOUR OPPONENT DOES NOT SHOW, YOU MUST PLAY, FILL OUT CARD WITH NAME, TEAM #, OPPONENT’S NAME, TEAM #, 12 POINTS FOR FORFEIT, OPPONENTS 0 POINTS, OPPONENT’S TEAM 6 POINTS DATED AND SIGNED (BY PLAYER AND LEAGUE OFFICIAL). A CARD NOT HANDED IN WILL RESULT IN A FORFEIT FOR BOTH TEAMS. (SEE RULE #18)
MISSING 3 WEEKS OF LEAGUE PLAY IN THE SEASON CONSTITUTES BEING DROPPED OUT, UNLESS SPECIAL EXCEPTION IS GRANTED BY THE RULES & TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE. A TEAM WILL RECEIVE 6 POINTS EACH WEEK UNTIL A REPLACEMENT CAN BE MADE FOR THE DROPPED OUT PLAYER.
5. RULE DISCREPANCY: IF A DISCREPANCY OVER A RULE BETWEEN PLAYERS CANNOT BE RESOLVED, THE HOLE SHOULD BE PLAYED OUT AND THEN BROUGHT BEFORE THE RULES & TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE FOR FINAL RESOLUTION.
6. PLUGGED BALLS: ALL PLUGGED BALLS (EXCEPT IN SAND TRAPS OR A HAZARD) ARE FREE LIFTS.
7. LOST OR OUT OF BOUNDS BALL: A BALL DEEMED LOST OR OUT OF BOUNDS WILL INCUR A ONE STROKE PENALTY. (STROKE & DISTANCE) A PROVISIONAL BALL SHOULD ALWAYS BE PLAYED WHEN IN DOUBT.
8. PREFERRED LIE: A PREFERRED LIE MAY BE TAKEN IN ANY FAIRWAY, (NOT NECESSARILY YOUR OWN). THE BALL CAN BE MOVED A MAXIMUM OF SIX INCHES IN A DIRECTION NO CLOSER TO THE HOLE AND CAN BE CLEANED. A BALL LYING IN THE ROUGH MAY NOT BE MOVED EXCEPT NINTH & EIGHTEENTH (SEE CLUB RULES).
9. BALL IN A BUNKER: BALL MUST BE PLAYED AS IT LIES UNLESS IT IS IN A FOOTPRINT OR UNGROOMED AREA. IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE THE PLAYER MAY LIFT HIS BALL. RAKE SMOOTH THE AREA AND DROP THE BALL AT ARM’S LENGTH ONTO SMOOTHED AREA. IF A PLAYER’S CLUB COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE SAND BEFORE STRIKING THE BALL, A ONE STROKE PENALTYCAN BE IMPOSED BY HIS OPPONENT.
10. UNPLAYABLE LIE: A BALL MAY BE DEEMED UNPLAYABLE BY A PLAYER AT ANY TIME DURING A MATCH WHEN HE CANNOT MAKE A PROPER STRIKE AT THE BALL. THE PLAYER MUST TAKE A ONE STROKE PENALTY AND PLAY ONE OF THREE OPTIONS:
11. BALL IN THE ROUGH: PLAYER CAN PICK UP THEIR BALL TO IDENTIFY ONLY IN THE PRESENCE OF THEIR OPPONENT, OTHERWISE CANNOT TOUCH OR MOVE THE BALL.
12. WHIFFS: THERE IS NO SUCH THING ANYMORE FOR ALL DIVISIONS.
13. CHANGE OF BALL: PLAYER MAY CHANGE HIS BALL ONLY ON THE TEE AND MUST IDENTIFY NEW BALL TO OTHERS BEFORE TEEING OFF.
14. PLAYING WRONG BALL: PLAYER HITTING WRONG BALL LOSES THE HOLE AUTOMATICALLY AND SCORES A DOUBLE BOGEY.
15. BALL MOVED IN PRACTICE SWING: DOES NOT COUNT AS A STROKE.
16. FREE LIFTS: PLAYERS ARE ENTITLED TO A FREE LIFT FROM ALL ROADS, PATHS AND DITCHES. DROP BALL IN ROUGH NO NEARER TO THE HOLE LEAVING THE SAME OBSTACLES BETWEEN THE BALL AND HOLE.
17. HOLE #1: IF BALL IS WITHIN ONE CLUB LENGTH OF FENCE BEYOND GREEN, SEE RULE #6 ON SCORECARD.
18. SCORE CARDS: ALL SCORE CARDS WILL BE FILLED OUT PROPERLY. TWO PLAYERS PER SCORE CARD. CARDS WILL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:
IMPROPERLY FILLED OUT SCORE CARDS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED SO TAKE A FEW EXTRA MINUTES AND FILL IT OUT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
19. ADJUSTED SCORES: HANDICAPS ARE CALCULATED ON THE ADJUSTED SCORES LISTED ON YOUR SCORECARD. TO FIGURE THEM, SEE RULE #23.
20. HANDICAPS: HANDICAPS WILL BE REVIEWED AFTER EACH THREE WEEKS OF PLAY AND WILL BE POSTED BEFORE THE FOURTH WEEK’S MATCH. TO FIGURE YOUR OWN HANDICAP YOU WOULD ADD ALL OF YOUR HANDICAP SCORES TO DATE AND DIVIDE BY THE NUMBER OF WEEKS. THIS NUMBER IS THEN MULTIPLIED BY .95 TO GIVE YOU AN ADJUSTED SCORE. THEN YOU WILL SUBTRACT THE COURSE RATING (34 FOR NINE HOLES) TO GIVE YOU YOUR HANDICAP.
EXAMPLE: AFTER THREE WEEKS AFTER SIX WEEKS
ADD YOU SCORES 48,55,57 = 160 48,55,57,53,50,47 = 310
DIVIDE BY # OF WEEKS 160/3 = 53 310/6 = 52
MULTIPLY BY .95 53 x .95 = 50 52 x .95 = 49
SUBRACT COURSE RATE 50 - 34 = 16 49 – 34 = 15
NOTE: EACH STEP IS ROUNDED TO THE NEAREST WHOLE NUMBER
21. HOLIDAYS: THERE WILL BE NO GOLF ON THE FOLLOWING HOLIDAYS:

22. TOURNAMENTS: THE FOLLOWING NIGHTS HAVE BEEN PICKED FOR LEAGUE TOURNAMENTS PROVIDING THERE ARE NO RAIN DATES.

TOURNAMENT SCORING
TEAM EVENT: POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO TEAMS BASED ON THE ORDER OF THE FINISH. YOU MUST PLAY TO RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL POINTS (4)
1ST PLACE- 8 POINTS 5TH PLACE -4 POINTS
2ND PLACE 7 POINTS 6TH PLACE 3 POINTS
3RD PLACE 6 POINTS 7TH PLACE 2 POINTS
4TH PLACE 5 POINTS 8TH PLACE 1 POINT
INDIVIDUAL EVENT: POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER BASED ON THE ORDER OF THEIR FINISH. THE SAME FORMAT OF POINTS AS IN TEAM PLAY WILL BE FOLLOWED. (YOU MUST PLAY TO RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL POINTS)
TIEBREAKERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
GROSS SCORE EVENT: STARTING @ HOLE #1 IN ORDER THRU #9
NET SCORE EVENT: STARTING FROM THE LOWEST HANDICAP HOLE IN ORDER THRU HIGHEST HANDICAP HOLE.
23. IT IS O.K. TO GIVE PUTTS OR PICK UP AND TAKE THE MAXIMUM SCORE YOU ARE ALLOWED WHEN YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO WIN THE HOLE. YOU ARE GOING TO ADJUST IT TO THAT SCORE ANYWAY. THE MAXIMUM SCORE YOU CAN TAKE ON A HOLE IS:
HDCP.
